چکیده

Active power conditioners have been developed over the years to solve the problems to improve power quality. Among which shunt active power conditioners is used to eliminate load current harmonics and reactive power compensation. The controller ensures that the dc-side capacitor voltage is nearly constant with small ripple besides extracting fundamental reference currents. The PLL block assists the active filter to function even under distorted voltage or current conditions. The shunt APLC system is implemented with voltage source inverter and is connected at PCC for compensating the reactive power. The shunt APLC system is modeled and investigated under unbalanced nonlinear load conditions using MATLAB simulation. The simulation results reveal that the active power filter line conditioner is effectively compensating the reactive power and improves power factor at point of common coupling. Keywords— Active power line conditioners (APLC), PWM inverter, PLL, PI, PID, Fuzzy logic controller and Hysteresis current controller (HCC).

A Comparative Study and Implementation of Controller for UPQC in Single-Phase to Three-Phase System

Abstract—This paper presents comparative study and implementation of Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) to eliminate harmonics and reactive power compensation in a single-phase to threephase converter system. The proposed configuration solves typical problems encountered in remote rural area applications, where only a single-phase supply is available and there is a demand for three-phase ...

Comparison of Neural Network and Fast Fourier Transform Based Selective Harmonic Extraction and Total Harmonic Reduction for Power Electronic Converters

A new strategy to estimate harmonic distortion from an AC line is presented for power electronic converters. An Adaptive linear neural network (ADALINE) is used to determine precisely the necessary currents in order to cancel harmonics. The proposed strategy is based on an original decomposition of the measured currents to specify the neural network inputs. This new decomposition is based on th...

Improving the performance of UPQC under unbalanced and distortional load conditions: A new control method

This paper presents a new control method for a three-phase four-wire Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) to deal with the problems of power quality under distortional and unbalanced load conditions. The proposed control approach is the combination of instantaneous power theory and Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) theory which is optimized by using a self-tuning filter (STF) and without us...

Power Quality Improvement Using Matrix Converter Based UPQC

This paper proposes a matrix converter based unified power quality conditioner (MC–UPQC) for mitigating power quality problems. This proposed system is a combination of unified power quality conditioner and matrix converter. The UPQC is a combination of back-toback connected series and shunt active filters through a dclink. Voltage disturbances and harmonics are compensated by series active fil...
